The Work of: Timothy Goodman

One of my favourite truism in Jenny Holtzer’s famous series of the same name is: “Words are inadequate”. Of course, the power of that series stemmed in part from the juxtaposition of words—black italics on white—and the work being pasted on walls and in public spaces.

In that same vein, Timothy’s work shows us over again that words—and words used as images—have tremendous power to inspire, to motivate and to seduce. His work is a mixture of storytelling, hand-made type, graffiti, advertising and activism. Whilst he doesn’t shy away from commercial commissions, he has spearheaded or contributed to a number of initiatives that celebrate craft and leverage the power of words to make political statements.

Or just a little food for thought.
